Icebreaker activity for the beginning of the semester

I am a big believer in developing a warm classroom environment in which students feel comfortable being themselves. One strategy I used for the first time last year worked well in helping accomplish this goal. Students enjoyed this activity and treated each other with great sensitivity and support when each student delivered his or her speech. I also discovered invaluable information about my students regarding their families, interests, and struggles. 

Because introduce themselves in two minutes or less, I call this activity Un2.
